Below the ruins of Wachtenburg Castle, in the valley on the outskirts of the village, lies the Burgtal campground, which can be a good starting point for exploring the northern part of the German Wineroad.
The campground is harmoniously laid out on a 4ha site with lots of trees. The paths to the pitches are generously sized so that even 2.50m wide 10m caravans can easily be pulled to the pitch of choice.
What to do here
The campground is located on the edge of the Palatinate Forest, in the idyllic valley below the Wachtenburg, which is somewhat hidden behind trees. The village center is about 1.5 km away. The reception is open for arrival between 11 am and 1 pm, and 3 pm and 9 pm. The campground is rated with 3 DTV stars until 2021 for the areas of reception and service, sanitary and pitches.
The place has two sanitary houses, washing machine and dryer. There is also a small kitchen with cooking area and dish sink. We found that quite practical.

The site has two sanitary buildings, with individual wash cubicles, sanitary cubicle for wheelchair users, hot water showers, a separate baby changing room and ironing room with washing machine and dryer. Everything was wonderfully clean, as I expect and have already been disappointed in this regard.
Highly recommended.
For us, this place is ideal to explore the northern part of the German Wineroad or the Palatinate Forest by bike or on foot. Depending on your own preference, you can camp here and spend a good time with your camper or caravan with more or less technical comfort.
The place is clean and well maintained. The «upper place» offers for 2.00 € more additional amenities in the water supply and disposal. The pricing is reasonable and the price list is very clear. There you notice that here professionals from the administration have their fingers in the game. From here you can enjoy all kinds of activities in the abundant nature and the amenities of a renowned wine region.
