Hotel de Guise

Centuries after its construction, the hotel still exudes the typical athmosphere of the old house. The owners have carefully preserved the architectural and stylistic aspects of previous eras with many remarkable pieces of the past.

Its ceilings in French style, with mock beams and painted lilies, the monumental fireplace and its stone floor, room Stanislas (breakfast room) have the characteristic elements of the era of Louis XIII. The staircase, with a wrought iron railing of the 18th century, leads the guest from the first floor to the floors with the rooms and suites. This staircase is inspired by Jean Lamour. He was the art blacksmith in the service of the King of Poland who had the grilles covered with gold made in Stanislas Square. This heritage is present in the rooms, because the owners have preserved parquet flooring as in the Palace of Versailles.

The hotel is in - almost - every respect a house that is quiet and centrally located. Restaurants and bars are around the corner and offer something for every taste.

We found the parking situation extremely tricky, because parking spaces in front of the house are rare and usually occupied by local residents. We parked our car at the Cours Léopold (fee!) , which is about three minutes walk from the hotel. By car it takes longer because of the one-way streets.... . For unloading and loading on arrival and departure, we blocked the Rue de Guise for a short time and no one complained. The concierge was very helpful in this operation.

A beautiful house, centrally located, where, however, a few sacrifices must be made in logistics when arriving with their own car: Highly recommended.
