At 2,962 meters, the Zugspitz Mountain is Germany's highest peak and is located in the Wetterstein Mountains.
The border between Germany and Austria runs right across the summit. The Zugspitze was first climbed in 1820. Visitors are not always properly prepared and some behave completely wrongly.
This leads to the fact that emergencies and accidents with difficult mountain rescue operations occur again and again.
Three main remarks can be made:
For this reason, the German Alpine Association, the Bavarian Mountain Rescue Service and the Association of German Mountain and Ski Guides want to provide mountaineers with important information about the main routes and preventive safety measures.
And for those who want to storm the summit a little less strenuously, there is the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn, which can take you up to the snow-covered peak to take in the grandiose panorama for yourself.
