Main Glück Campsite
Our penultimate stage destination takes us to a natural campsite in a small village with great opportunities for hiking or exploring this corner of the Spessart by bike.
Main Glück Campsite stretches along the banks of the Main. It offers plenty of space for motorhomes and caravans. Provisions are available at the supermarket in Lohr or Marktheidenfeld, and fresh rolls at the bakery in Rotenfels or Hafenlohr.
Neustadt am Main is picturesquely situated on both banks of the Main, surrounded by the wooded hills of the Spessart. Neustadt is particularly well known for its monastery, a Benedictine monastery founded in 768/769 that played a significant role in the Christianization of the region.
Opportunities
On the site, or on the Main itself, it's easy to unwind: sunbathe on the jetty, go water skiing, stand-up paddling, chat by the campfire, motorboat, paddle boat, or kayak. Increase your radius for discovery in all directions: to the Aurora in the forest for a well-kept, local beer or to Lohr am Main to (re)visit Snow White.
Our Recommendation (as of 2025)
The campsite is very well-kept and allows for stress-free parking of campers or caravans. The sanitary facilities are spotless, there is a kiosk, and it's not far to top up supplies at the supermarket. A very uncomplicated site with an uncomplicated host family who put their heart and soul into it. Highly recommended.
... even more possibilities
Update: Spring 2026
The village shop and the village café in the monastery courtyard have just opened. A place where old and young meet from both sides of the Main and you can buy supplies for your caravan. A remarkable detail is the pricing, which doesn't have to hide from the large supermarkets in Lohr and Marktheidenfeld. The village café is also highly recommended: the coffee is good, the cakes can be considered a successful attack on your weight ... and you won't go broke either. When the sun shines from April 1st, you can enjoy the weather, peace and a fine, regional beer in a historic atmosphere.
