Milandes Castle was the home of Josephine Baker and therefore known worldwide. It was the undisputed residence of the Caumont family until the French Revolution. It was inhabited throughout the 16th century. However, the conversion of the family to Protestantism destroyed the peaceful harmony of the "Sleeping Beauty Castle". The French Revolution once again changed everything: the splendor of the Caumonts passed away, the château was abandoned; in the 19th century it was sold without the new owners showing any real interest in the building. It fell into disrepair and was eventually abandoned again. Mrs. Baker finally revived the property together with her family...
