The huge limestone massif in Sare and its surroundings is rich in numerous caves.
We visited one of these caves with an atypical geological formation called Lezea or Grottes de Sare genannt wird.
The mountain Atxuria near Sare is covered with clayey soil that restricts the penetration of rainwater, which creates original shapes to the numerous caves there.
One of these caves is Lezea, or Grotto of Sare. It can be visited today and looks almost as it did over 2 million years ago.
Lezea, or the Grotto of Sare is such an atypical geological formation with large halls of dizzying proportions, an entrance cave that is one of the largest in Aquitaine, and last but not least, another hall that was used as a dwelling by prehistoric people.
