Anyone who is seriously interested in the profession of photographic art must also be familiar with the old methods of production, even if today ostensibly every smartphone can take pictures. That is the difference between snapping a picture and photography. And it can be experienced here in the former Carlux train station. In between. When you take a break here.
This former station has been tastefully renovated and presents an excellent collection of Robert Doisneau's photographic art. - In France, too, railroad lines are closed down and one or the other station remains. Lovingly and tastefully renovated, it stands here in Carlux, right next to the former railroad embankment that is now a bicycle expressway between Sarlat and Cazoulès. That's a little over 23 km, some of which runs along the river.

The station, arranged on three levels, houses an unusual exhibition where design and authenticity coexist. The Gare Robert Doisneau hosts two exhibitions that are unique in France. There is the only permanent exhibition dedicated to Robert Doisneau.
On the first floor we find photos of Robert Doisneau's vacations in the Dordogne and the Lot from August 1939, the beginning of the Second World War. We discover familiar landscapes, family photos, and pictures of canoe trips.... Timeless photos of a Dordogne (almost) unchanged.
Robert Doisneau station also temporarily exhibits the work of other artists throughout the year. An opportunity to discover more photographic art.
Here in the station also the new tourist office of the Pays de Fénelon. About everything to visit, the activities and festivals in the region and the Périgord Noir in general can be informed here.

A station with a tourist office must of course also have a souvenir store where many souvenirs about Robert Doisneau and the Dordogne-Périgord region can be purchased. And it is absolutely impossible to have a train station without a "Café de la Gare". The Café Resto is open from April to November to welcome visitors to the exhibition, cyclists and passing motorists ... Like us ... In addition to drinks, the café also offers homemade dishes with fresh local products.
