At the Mönchshof in Kulmbach, baking and brewing belong together true to the motto "Today I bake, tomorrow I brew..."
Thus, for more than ten years, right next to the Bavarian Brewery Museum, there has been the Bavarian Bakery Museum, where my journey through time takes me all the way back to ancient Egypt.
The impressive tour starts with an old bakehouse from the 17th century. Here you should expect the witch from "Hansel and Gretel" to come around the corner at any moment.
At the beginning of the baker's craft is the grain, the farmer, that is, agriculture. We dive into the everyday agricultural life of the early 20th century and arrive at an old envy mill towering over three floors. We vividly experience the work of the miller and the individual steps in a flour mill. We see technology 1.0 : drive types of historical mills and learn about different types of flour.
In an old bakery, with artisan experience and hard work, the flour becomes bread. At the end of our visit there is a piece of malt and hop bread from the own oven to taste.
