The Bastide Monpazier is particularly impressive for its exceptional charm. The bastide has remained almost original since its foundation in 1284 - in the name of King Edward I of England.
Today, the southwest of France has more than 300 bastides, and Monpazier, better than any other, gives a glimpse of this new type of town of the Middle Ages. As we stroll through the streets, explore the alleys and admire the square of angles, we recognize the masterful architecture and concept of town planning that Monpazier is considered an ideal model of a fortified village.
