Culture and enjoyment under one roof: With the Bavarian Brewery Museum including the Transparent Museum Brewery, the Bavarian Bakery Museum and the German Spice Museum as well as the Museum Educational Center (MUPÄZ) and the Mönchshof Bräuhaus, the Kulmbach Mönchshof is a strong cultural and tourist attraction in the enjoyment region of Upper Franconia, but also in particular as a showcase for Kulmbach as a food location.
Today, the Kulmbacher Mönchshof combines culture and enjoyment under one roof and is not only the showcase of Kulmbach as a food location, but is also considered a showcase of Bavarian food culture. A visit, I think, is definitely worthwhile.
The Bavarian Brewery Museum, located at Kulmbach's Mönchshof, has more than 3,000 square meters of exhibition space and is one of the largest specialized museums dedicated to beer - a true treasure trove of beer culture for more than 25 years. The outstanding importance of the "liquid gold" in Bavaria, Franconia and in particular in the beer country Upper Franconia is impressively represented in the individual departments of the museum. With many interactive stations the museum visit becomes an unforgettable experience.
The exhibition begins with the art of craft "beer brewing around 1900". Here, it is impressively shown under what physical effort the delicious barley juice was produced at that time. From beer brewing at the time of the ancient Egyptians to the Romans and Celts, the path of "Beer Culture through the Ages" leads to the medieval beer brewing of the monks. Our journey continues with. "Advertising around beer" and "Brewery architecture" are two further, very interesting aspects.
I am fascinated by how vividly I can understand how brewing was revolutionized by industrialization and that brewing today is still a highly skilled art.
The visit to the "Glass Museum Brewery" with its transparent brew kettles and gleaming copper hoods is the conclusion and highlight of my visit. Here I witness how hops, malt, water and yeast are used to create unique special beers that are adapted to the different seasons of the year in a traditional, artisanal way. I look over the master brewer's shoulder and listen to his explanations.
