Camping de Strasbourg
We want to get to know Strasbourg. Really get to know it. On foot and with our handcart for the necessary film equipment. For this, we need a pitch for our caravan that isn't too far from the action. And this site seemed to meet our requirements based on its website.
CRIT'AIR
With the aim of curbing air pollution, a permanent low-emission zone (ZFE-m) has been established in Strasbourg and the Eurometropolis since January 1, 2022.
To be allowed to drive in the low-emission zone, you must attach a Crit'Air sticker to your vehicle's windshield.
Remember this before coming to Strasbourg!
Vehicles in the Crit'Air 5 and Crit'Air 4 categories are not permitted to drive in Strasbourg and the Eurometropolis.
More information hereThe site is large. Really large. It offers space for motorhomes and caravans. The trip to the city center never took more than 15 to 20 minutes. Public transport departs "right from the doorstep"; with a rented or your own eBike, it takes just about as long. We found a supermarket with a gas station slightly further out in Wolfisheim.
The sanitary facilities are good and clean. This applies to the showers, the sinks, and even the disposal point for the chemical toilet and grey water. Every pitch has its own electrical connection, but no private fresh water or sewage drain. The site is located on the edge of a nature reserve. In the spring, you have to be prepared for ants; in the summer, wasps might appear, and at one spot, there is a charming neighborhood of beavers, which are 1. herbivores and 2. completely harmless. The service staff are very friendly and helpful; breakfast can be ordered and eaten in the restaurant or at your caravan.
Opportunities
The possibilities are nearly endless. The old town, consisting of the Cathedral district and Petite France, the not-so-new Neustadt, the European Parliament, and many museums showing top-tier art and interesting insights into the history of the city and Alsace. Everything can be reached by bike, on foot, by tram, or even by car.
Our Recommendation (as of 2022)
The campsite is ideal for short stays with a camper or caravan. Service and hygiene are perfectly fine. There are no language problems. For longer stays, you have to be prepared for "water lugging," which wasn't a problem for us but isn't ideal. Recommended.
