The Berlin-Kladow campground is located right next to the border to the former GDR on the West Berlin side. It is open all year round and very conveniently located for the caravan faction among us.

Level terrain makes the alignment of the caravan easy. The pitch has grassy ground and is sufficiently level. The sanitary facilities are neat and already somewhat in the years. This is relatively unimportant to us, because, whether old or new, here everything is sparkling clean. Fresh water taps are sufficiently available, but seasonally, switched off. The way to the wash house is perfectly fine even for the spoiled camper.

This really large campground has a high percentage of permanent campers who are now, in early March, slowly getting ready to wake their domiciles from hibernation. We saw two children's playgrounds where the offspring can let all their steam off.

The site is located near the Lake Gross-Glienicke, through which the state border between Berlin and Brandenburg runs today. On the opposite side of the site flows the Havel River, so for water sports enthusiasts this is the place to be.

In the village itself there are enough shopping facilities, where the supplies for's survival can be bought. Gleches also applies, next to the clubhouse, the small place pub, where down-to-earth, German cuisine awaits the guest. If you want something more dignified, you can visit the Italian restaurant in town, for example, 5 or 6 minutes to drive.

Possibilities

We were here for our annual visit to the ITB. Much to our delight, the place is ideally located to get to downtown Berlin, as the traffic jams in the morning and evening are not worth mentioning.

And if you prefer to go to Potsdam, you can also get there in no time.

The surrounding area can be explored on well-developed bike paths. Or the bike is left standing and exchanged for a boat on the Havel or Lake Wannsee.

Our Recommendation

Status: Spring 2019

The campsite is ideal for staying with camper or caravan for a city trip to Berlin or the nearby countryside in Brandenburg.

Quiet ... you do not think you are right in Berlin, but somewhere in the countryside. A place as a superb starting point for all kinds of activities in the abundant nature of the Havel and lakes nearby and the bustling life of the capital. Highly recommended.
