The 5***** star campsite
Strandcamping Waging is located on the shore of the warmest lake in Upper Bavaria. The campsite is open all year round and, according to the operator, offers its guests the highest level of comfort. The campsite offers vacation apartments, rental caravans and the Strandkurhaus Waging, which was still closed for renovation during our visit.
Possibilities
Here we are right in the center of many possibilities, from hiking the Alps or cycling around the Lake Waginger See or Lake Chiemsee.
A visit to the two islands in Lake Chiemsee, Herrenchiemsee and Fraueninsel (ladies' island), is a must.
The topic of "salt" can be visited in nearby Bad Reichenhall - or a little further afield in the "Salzkammergut".
Recommendation
Status: Spring 2024
The campsite is large, good for campers and caravans, has direct access to Lake Waginger See and is generally well leveled. However, you should have wheel chocks or other tools for leveling with you.
The facilities correspond to the price level, the staff are friendly and the hygiene in the sanitary facilities is okay.
The emptying point for the chemical toilet was a hygienic disaster on our first visit. We pointed this out at reception, which was met with attempts to explain that the person responsible was off work. It was a little cleaner when we returned the second time. More frequent cleaning of this area would not be a bad idea.
We were disappointed.
