The electric passenger boat will take you to the St. Bartholomä peninsula in half an hour, behind which the imposing east face of the Watzmann rises. Next to the baroque pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä with its famous wine-red onion domes, the royal hunting lodge invites you to stop for a bite to eat in a typical Bavarian restaurant with a beer garden or to visit the Königssee fishermen, where trout, char and whitefish are processed into exquisite delicacies in the 400-year-old smokehouse. Trout and whitefish are processed into exquisite delicacies in the 400-year-old smokehouse.
Surrounded by steep mountain slopes, approximately 5 km south of Berchtesgaden, lies the emerald green Königssee, Germany's highest lake (603 m), whose water is of drinking quality and reaches fjord-like depths. Bus line 841 runs to the lake approximately every hour.
You should escape the hustle and bustle of the tourist village of Schönau on the lake and take a boat trip to St. Bartholomä, where the world-famous chapel with its onion domes stands on the western shore.
