Our round trip begins in the far north of the Spessart. At the crossroads of the Rhön, Vogelsberg, and Spessart regions, we immerse ourselves in a natural jewel that often reveals its secrets only upon a second look.
Northern Base Camp
Our starting point is the campsite in the Hutten district of Schlüchtern. From here, the region can be perfectly explored in every season. Whether hiking through dense deciduous forests or cycling through peaceful valleys—the tranquility of nature is omnipresent. For daily needs, nearby Schlüchtern offers everything a camper's heart desires, while the ridges offer a glimpse of the vast panoramas of the adjacent Rhön.
Robbers, Legends & Wilderness
The Spessart is shrouded in mystery, often linked to legends of robbers and hidden treasures. Wilhelm Hauff created a literary monument to the region with his "Spessart Inn." Yet behind the romanticism, life was once hard for its inhabitants. Today, majestic oaks and beeches dominate the landscape, providing a home for red deer and wild boar in their shadows. It is a place to reconnect with nature—quiet, authentic, and unspoiled.
