In the center of Speyer lies this restaurant It has a remarkable history: Before the great city fire in 1689, businessmen, spezereihändler and Krämer were housed here. After the reconstruction in 1700, bookbinders worked here for a long time.
In 1890 the Ruppertsberg winegrower Valentin Acker bought the property and built an inn, the "Hirschen", for his son Johannes. The following tenant called the inn "Zum goldenen Hirsch". So it exists until today and house, kitchen and staff surprise every time anew.
Ambience
Beautiful weather. Lucky us. We have booked a table "outside when it's not raining". The ambience of the restaurant inside is, we find, very cozy, but not old-fashioned furnished.
Menu, selection
The offer is rich. The menu is clearly laid out. And, as always, it was up to us that we could not decide for one or the other, because all the options sounded delicious.
