The campsite is located on the outskirts of Trévoux, a small town on the edge of the L'Ain region, which few have probably heard of, right on the banks of the Saône. It is an old campsite that once belonged to the municipality and is now privately operated.

It is an old campsite that used to belong to the municipality and is now run by a private operator. The site is just as we remember it from the past: spacious pitches under mature trees that are reminiscent of parkland. The pitches are also level, so leveling the caravan or motorhome requires little to no work.
The facilities are modern, bright, simple, and clean. That goes for the showers, the dishwashing sinks, and even the chemical toilet dump station.
Every pitch has an electric hook-up. You won't find individual water connections with quick-connect hose fittings right at the pitches, but there are plenty of water stations around—which also handle grey water disposal—so filling up is quick and easy.
Opportunities
... are plenty around here. The town and its sights are just about a 5-minute walk away, where you can dive into French food culture in cute little restaurants that will completely win you over with amazing flavors.
You’ll definitely need your car to get around if you want to check out the Ain region. It’s packed with incredibly well-preserved medieval towns and historic centers, along with lush nature and wildlife.
You can also explore the area by bike in either direction along the river—the network of trails is extensive and really well-maintained.
A major highlight is Lyon, which is 40 km away but only a 20-minute drive. It's absolutely full of sights, culture, and history to explore.
Our Recommendation (As of 2019 – Updated Late Summer 2026)
Back in 2019, it was right before closing time with hardly any guests around, but we checked this place out again to see if it could work as a basecamp for some upcoming filming in Lyon. It totally will. The limitations here compared to the French spots we've used over the last seven years are pretty minor and easy to manage schedule-wise. Plus, we know the place is in great hands—we actually ran into an old friend at reception who we originally met down in the Dordogne.
This place gets a massive thumbs up from us.
